Against the Gods

We’ve been through everything bad,
We’ve felt lonely and we’ve felt sad,
But maybe it has made us strong,
I don’t care though it’s still all wrong!

Why me? Why you? It’s just not fair,
Why does no one else seem to care?
Yes, they have problems and stresses too,
But nothing compared to me and you.

No one there in the fluffy clouds,
No one there in the coloured crowds,
It’s just you and me against the Gods,
A betting man wouldn’t take the odds.

But we are good, someway, somehow,
We’ve managed alright from then ’til now,
Bring it on, we can take it all,
On the chin, we’ll never fall.

I say that now, but wait until later,
When we are tired and the pain is much greater,
A whole new day is as hard as stone,
Together forever, or maybe alone?
