One day when eating my breakfast,
I took a bite of my toast and honey,
Something strange then happened,
My tooth, it felt all funny.
The big one at the top,
It started to move about,
The one that’s to the left,
Oh I hope it won’t fall out.
I showed it to my Mummy,
She said “That’s okay my dear,
It will take a while to come out,
And there’s nothing for you to fear.”
But I like my teeth where they are,
I need them to eat my food,
If I’ve got no teeth I couldn’t chew,
And that would be just rude.
“No my dear” my mummy said,
“More teeth will grow in place,
The ones that fall out now,
Won’t leave a great big space.”
But what do I do, with the ones that fall out?
Do I put them in the bin?
“No, we put them under your pillow,
To see what the tooth fairy will bring.”
So a few days later,
When eating toast once more,
My wobbly tooth,
Fell on the kitchen floor!
I picked it up and went upstairs,
And I put it in my bed,
I wondered if the fairy,
Would be able to lift my head!
That night, before I went to sleep,
I checked my tooth was there,
I lifted up the pillow,
Then put it back with care.
I thought perhaps I could stay awake,
And maybe take a peek,
At the tooth fairy when she came,
And maybe we could speak.
I’d ask her what she does,
With all the teeth that she has got,
I can’t even imagine,
She must really have a lot!
But I didn’t manage to stay awake,
I fell to sleep quite fast,
And when I woke to try and see,
Night time had already passed.
So I checked under my pillow,
And I was so surprised to see,
My tooth had disappeared,
But something was left for me.
Wrapped up in the tissue paper,
Something round and flat,
I opened it up; it was a silver coin,
How did she carry that?!
