My new shoes have got laces to tie,
But I’m not sure how and I’m not sure why,
My other shoes, they had buckles on,
They were easy, why are they gone?

The laces are floppy, awkward and long,
They are difficult and I keep going wrong,
But Mummy insists that I keep on trying,
I get in a tangle and feel like crying.

Mummy says that I should do it like so,
Over then under and then tie a bow,
It’s easy for her; she’s bigger than me,
I find it hard, but I am only three!
